Here Comes Santa - Ho, Ho, Ho,

Brooke and Will ended up missing for a time, next thing we knew - It was Santa in rare form. A Jolly soul from head to toe. Santa asked if everyone had been naughty or nice and we all got a chance to sit on his lap and to tell him what our Christmas wishes were for this year. He sat by the fire with us and had cookies and milk. A sweet Christmas memory that will live in my heart long past 2007.

Oh NO - Skunk Part II - The Biggest Skunk Ever!

Luke, Alan, and I delivered all our Christmas Paloosa Sugar Cookies to friends and neighbors alike, but arriving home, Luke started up the stairs in the garage to enter the house - when Alan saw that mammoth skunk right on the stairs where Luke was heading, so we yelled and he almost ran it over trying to get away.

We call the police to see if we could get a trap, and a trap we got. We put all kinds of yummy treats in the trap and the cat trap was set. Alan thought that it would be a good idea to also put a trash bag around the trap - when we went out to do that the skunk was in the trap, but had not set it off. RATS - Will would have said. Yes, it ran out and under some boxes. After placing the trap in the bag, we went back in the house 3 min later snap. We ran to the door only to see the little tiny skunk inch its way out of the 2" by 2" side hole, than to add insult to injury, our Pepi atempted to get back in the trap - and did!

Alan yelled open the garage door. He kicked the trap out, and yelled again for his right hand gal to now SHUT the door, SHUT the door, being as nice and fast as I am - I DID. I wish this were the end of the story, but by morning the skunk had escaped once again, only to return another day. We hope this day will be at your house. Our house has had enough excitement.

TAKE OUT THE TRASH OR YOU'LL BE SORRY!

Recipe to Cure Skunkism
1 pint peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda (not powder)
2 tsp. liquid dish detergent

A bath in tomato juice

and one can of Febreze..............

I took Luke to school this morning, and when I came back I heard some swishing coming from a trash can in the middle of our garage. It was more than a bag settling. The tan trash can had a few empty boxes on top of it, but I could see into the trash can from a spot that the box didn't cover, and I saw back and white moving. A magpie? That must be it - it flew in and is stuck in our trash can. I ran in and call Alan at work - he told me to go let it out. I told the kids and Grant ran out to see. When Grant came back, he asked me Mom I know that you are smarter than me, but don't birds have wings, I said "yes" - he then asked me if birds have long fluffy tails with a white stripe. Oh my gosh - I called Alan back and he just laughed - yea funny unless you are the one dealing with it. Grant went out again and when he came back in he was plugging his nose - I thought NO not on the last day of school for the year, "Grant you didn't get sprayed did you?" No, just kidding! - KIDS -
Grant and I went out moved the trash can in the middle of the drive way. I had to take a few photos, because who was going to believe us! After I snapped a few - my camera battery needed to be changed, so I told the kids to watch the skunk, and I would be right back. When i turned around in the office - all the kids were standing right behind me. I asked them who is watching the skunk, by the time we went back out, the skunk was gone - the sad new is I think that he or she is back in our garage.

I hope that we do not have to add to this post or use our researched recipe

Aniversary Inn - Romeo & Juliett Style 2007

I know that we should have missed, all the kids and Michelle back at home base, but the Romeo & Juliet on 5th south in SLC, was just the ticket for R & R. Movies in bed, balcony, rose petals, spiral stair case, jetted tub for two, a hot breakfast to our room, best of all time to be together. Did I mention that I LOVE this guy. He really is the best.

Christmas Palloosa 2007 - Frosted Sugar Cookies

Each year - Shelly (aka Michelle) and I come up with some crazy idea, with Martha Stewart in mind - she makes it look so easy. You know, the smell of something yummy cooking, neighbors wanting to be your friend to get on the goodies list etc.

Last year we made home-made chocolates. Had we ever made chocolates before, NO, but how hard could it be. $119.00 and 10 hours later, we vowed to NEVER try that again.

This year we were on to the blessed sugar cookie. It did take us the better part of the day, but Christmas Poloosa is a cherished time for me. It never goes to smooth, but that is part of its charm.

Most of all I love spending time with those close to my heart.
I've learned that you need to make time for those you love, then make a memory. I will never think of chocolates, nor sugar cookies the same. I appreciate and love Shelly to death. She is more than fabulous, she is family.

This is my latest attempt at digital scrap booking. I'm having a ton of fun, and the pages have been turning out - this amazes me! I love digital, when my kids or others may want a copy, then I don't have to make 5, but I can just print a few more.

If you were lucky enough to live close by, and HAVE to have the recipe to those heavenly sugar cookies, and want to look at pictures of the three crazy polloosa people. Give me a call and I'll print you a set!

From Here to Eternity - 14 years & going strong!

Wednesday, December 15th 1993 - Alan & I were married for time and all eternity in the SLC temple. It was a very cold day, but our hearts were warm. I am lucky to be married to such a sweet, kind, generous man. He is an awesome father, and the best husband ever. He has been gone this week - working in Wyoming, we all have missed him a ton. Ali says she gets to marry him next. I hope that she gets the opportunity to have a sweetheart just like him - if she does she will be a lucky girl.

14 years and we not only love each other, but we still like each other too. Cheers, and a wish for 14 more and then some.....We are ditching the kids with Michelle - (the kids all time favorite), and well - I'm not sure that I will be blogging much of our weekend, but the Romeo and Juliet room at the anniversary Inn doesn't allow 5 children, and that's ok - we don't plan on adding a 6th.

Jesus is the reason for the Season!

I ran across a card that was attached to a Christmas gift given to me from my Mom and my Dad. My Dad has been gone for three years now and I still can't open the gift. I know what it is all my siblings got the same sweet nativity the has a music box attached, that plays "Silent Night." The card reads -

Jesus is the reason for the Season
Though time crumbles stone & the story
Grown old-yet the shepherd still watches
Over his fold. And his star still shines over
City & Mart & his voice still speaks
to the listening Heart.
May we all listen, love & serve like they did
In the Christmas story "The Last Straw"
Daddy & I wish you a "Silent Night Christmas".
Take time to reflect about the
true meaning of Christmas.
Merry Christmas

No Butt - No Problem - Masking Tape Will Do!

If your name is Will and you are son of a man with no butt - you might have the same problem. I gave Will a belt to put on but he was having so much fun playing with the belt as a whip that the pants problem persisted. The next time I saw him the belt was still in his hands but the pants stayed up - WHY you ask? 20-30 times around your waist with a roll of masking tape should do - and it did!

The Peay Sisters

The Annual PEAY Family Christmas Party 2007

Last night the annual Peay family Christmas Party took place, at the Mapleton Memorial Hall. The three Peay sisters put on a real shin dig. A good time was had by all, from young to old. I have loved and cherished this tradition from the earliest years of my childhood. I remember playing many of the parts of the nativity, Grandma Peay giving all of us Grandchildren our set of Christmas PJ's, and all the good food. Now I watch as my children participate in the nativity, the candy bar game, the white elephant gifts etc. is a sweet gift. We all love the pizza and sweet treats, the wacky activities the sisters come up with (family cheers, dancing with the Peays, the state of the Peay's given by Norma), but most of all I love honoring the two sweethearts that have made everything possible - Earl & Myrl. I think we do honor them by staying close and keeping our friendships alive. I love the Peay family and think we're great, (mainly by example). I really know and care about them. The legacy has passed from a set of loving parents to three daughters, to their three families, and now to their children, and the children of the grandchildren. I remember the years that the nativity was held in Norma and Keith's master bedroom, with all of us children getting reading in the master bath - this years as with other years we now have need of renting a big place to hold us all.

As my sister Vickie would say "drop a pebble in the water - just a splash and it is gone, but a thousand ripples circle on and on and on." Our Peay legacy does circle on and on. We may not sing the best, dance the best, or do the best cheers, but we do love the best - and that will always make the difference.

Pizza $150.00

Place 50.00

Candy 8.00

Paper Goods 15.00

White elephant gift (questionable) all this you can get with MasterCard

A together Family - Priceless

I'm glad to be part PEAY!

Some People Have More Time Than Me!

As part of our Birthday celebration for Will we ended the night looking at Christmas lights, singing a few Christmas Carols, and in the end wondering how some people have so much more time, money, and energy to do the things they do. Case in point #1 - When it snows, the kids might roll a few balls of snow together and make good old Frosty! Our friends in Springville have not heard of Frosty or his snowman friends, but the Simpsons they know about. Not just one Simpson, but the whole family and the couch! It had been a warmer day so the eyes are a little bit buggier than they had been. You got to love it!

One-Two-Three-Four I know what I wish for!

Oh My! The Jenkins have a 4 year old!

Yes, it is true no more three year olds at the Jenkins home - ok some still act like they're three, but our Mr. Will Peayton Jenkins has turned "4"! We had a great party, playing all the hit games like - Duck, Duck, Goose - Button, Button, and Apples to Apples. Add fun friends, and family, a little cake, some candles, and a few balloons and you have a fabulous Birthday Gig!

Birthday!

Today is my Birthday and I'm 29 and 1/2 once again! A big thanks going out to Luke who with skillful hands took this picture - the whole time he had the best time imitating his mother and the way she does a photo gig. He was pretty funny - and cute I love that boy.
