After more rounds of Strep than I wish to count (15 in 6 months), missed days of school, the pharmacist & Doctors office staff becoming my best friends, missing the fun of my birthday because of strep, buying more Popsicles and 7-up than should be allowed - WE HAD HAD IT! Alan, Will, and I had our tonsils taken out years ago, so our next step was to put the two worst offenders under the knife. Durum roll please......the day after Christmas Luke and Brooke went to UVRMC and Dr. Ence helped save the day. Luke may be cute, but he is not the best at being sick or not feeling well - he is a nut.
Dr. Ence, two nurses, and a intern came in to check out the kids right before the surgery, he asked when they had eaten last, and wanted to make sure that they didn't have any metal on or in them. When Dr. Ence asked Luke - I was waiting for him to say no.......when he said yes I was surprised. The Dr. asked where and Luke moved his weight to his left check in bed and said "Dr. I have buns of steel". I asked the doctor to drug him extra and to take him first. Well they both lived, and I did too even when Luke came out of surgery with a bag holding his tonsils - he wanted them for a picture - I don't think that I will eat meat balls ever again!
