We listen to a radio station on Sundays called Kosy 106.5 - they play nice LDS Sunday music. This particular Sunday they talked about a Disneyland promotion they were having, giving away a trip each week day during the month of January. Alan was gone on a business trip and the kids and I decided that we were going to win this trip.
Alan being a geologist, most of our trips are what the kids call ROCK trips. S
ome place close with big rocks to look at and we all hike around. We have had fun, but the kids want more. We have said that we can't go to Disneyland until the younest is 4 years old, this has kept us safe because we have always had a little one under 4 until now. Each day you needed to go to the kosy web site and look for Fisher and Candance by clicking each attraction on the Disneyland & Disneyland California maps, until you find them and see the image on the left. Then you can enter as many times as you wish. Each morning they would announce the winner from the previous days enties. The call could be heard on the radio around 7:10am. The kids and I would listen only to be disapointed, when they would say that they were calling somone from SLC, or American Fork etc.
We really wanted to win - this as Brooke put it would make us go. The package came with gas cards over $200.00 - two nights stay - park hopper tickets for four etc. This day Luke found Fisher & Candance, before going to school, Grant worked on it until he had to take off for school, Brooke did a few until it was her turn for piano, and Ali did a ton while waiting for her turn. I did a bunch while Will was at preschool. A real family effort. Alan got home from the airport around 11:30pm that night. He asked if we had won yest and I told him tomarrow. We woke up around 6:30am and just talked, I thought about turning on the radio a few minuets before 7 but I knew that the anouncment came at 7:10. Seven on the dot, the phone rang. This could be really good or really bad. Alan said hello and they asked if Lori was avalable, he said yes, she is right here. I could not believe it, They said Lori your going to Disneyland, we talked for a time and the call ended. I then realized that they record the call at 7 and play it back at 7:10. This was perfect! We got all the kids up as usual - put them on our bed and waited. Grant had his fingers crossed as we all did. Fisher and Candace said lets call our winner, one ring, two rings, Gant said, Mom our phone is not ringing. Who are we calling? A girl they said, Ali said, Mom you are a girl. A Girl, from Mapleton! Grant yelled we are from Mapleton. Then you could hear someone pick up the phone - the kids faces went sad, its not us, just then you could hear, Alan's voice, then mine. I wish you could have seen the kids jumping on the bed, some staying on others falling off. I must admit - it was one of the funnest times, and the best it yet to come. We take off on our trip the week of spring break - April 14th 2008. This will pay for half of us to go - we are kiddnapping Michelle and making her come and ride all the motion sick rides for us. Go Michelle! Tune in to see the trip results.
